Tonight's first episode in a new series celebrates the work of South London venue Iklectik and the series of artist takeovers occurring over the next two weeks to mark the closure of their Old Paradise Yard home. The takeover on 12th January is curated by the trio of Howlround, Pascal Savy and Merkaba Macabre from Psyché Tropes and we'll be hearing new and exclusive works from all three, including an extract from 'Species Piracy' a recent audio-visual performance with artist and researcher Amy Cutler. [Repeated from Friday 11.30pm.] Modulisme (which translates as Modularism) is a series devoted to out of leftfield modular synthesis. This week: Buchlaïsms 5, Part 1. Buchla – often labelled as the Stradivarius of synthesisers – is one of the most innovative musical vessels ever designed. It's named after electronics pioneer Don Buchla, who manufactured his first modular synthesiser in 1963, The Buchla Series 100. The Music Easel appeared in 1973 so we celebrated both a diamond and golden jubilee to close 2023. This week: a special Wavelength produced for Resonance FM's 18th birthday concerning quarantined inventor Hugh de la Cruz's quest to obtain an antiquarian work on perpetual motion, 'Perpetuum Mobile' by Victorian engineer Henry Dircks (famous for designing the 'Pepper's Ghost' stage illusion). Through occasionally-precarious phone reception, book dealer William English and Hugh de la Cruz unpick the confusion over the Henry Dircks editions (two distinct volumes published a decade apart, 1861 and 1870) and a subsequent re-edited semi-pirated edition published in the United States in 1916 by Percy Verance.
