K Biswas (Chair)
Our Chair, K Biswas, is a writer and critic who has been Chair since 2018. A former programme-maker, he is also the Editor of Representology: The Journal of Media and Diversity, co-Chair of the charity Heard, and a board member of the Doc Society. Appointed November 2015
Ilan Aarons (Treasurer)
Our Treasurer, Ilan Aarons, is currently a Finance Director with Pfizer. He brings extensive financial expertise across a variety of industries, in global roles based in the UK, Germany and Switzerland, including Treasury experience with NAAFI, a non-profit organisation supporting the British military and their families. Ilan is also a musician, having performed as a guitarist with Polaris and Solanki alongside other artists in the DIY community and has contributed to fan-based film production projects including Mad Heidi. He’s married to Helen and has two children. Appointed March 2024
John Maxwell Hobbs
Musician, media consultant, internet pioneer, and BBC Scotland’s former Head of Technology, John Maxwell Hobbs has worked at the intersection of art and technology for over 30 years. He is the CEO of Streamline, a music technology startup and is Vice President of Vanguard Visions, an organisation fostering artists experimenting with technology. He is a musician and composer who releases music under the name Cinema Volta. He also has a band called Flux Brothers with David Azarch, the former DJ of the Mudd Club and the Peppermint Lounge. Terry Patterson
Currently a regular volunteer and contributor, Terry Patterson participated in Resonance's Donate Your Voice Project, subsequently volunteering to rebuild Resonance's Studio 1 over Summer 2024 with partner Richard, following its decommissioning in 2020. Terry is currently a tutor in Mathematics and Information Technology, teacher, adviser consultant in Education, contributor to forthcoming Resonance programme "Lifetracks", and a former Trustee, HR Committee Co-Chair and Chair of London Cycling Campaign alongside numerous other voluntary organisations. Mike Hill
Mike has been fascinated by radio all his life. His early childhood experiments on valve amplifiers, tape recorders, and transmitters sparked a career in broadcasting. He trained as a BBC Studio Manager, became a journalist at Radio 1’s Newsbeat, and went on to manage BBC Radio 5 Live and the BBC Asian Network. He founded and grew Radioplayer, a pan-industry platform for connected radio across 23 countries, and has spent the last few years leading a conservation charity in the Lake District. Aaron Vaughan-Dick
Aaron is a Developer with extensive experience in finance, enterprise systems, and workflow automation across the media, financial, and public sectors. He has worked with organisations including The Walt Disney Company, Evelyn Partners, Canon Europe, and Haringey Council, leading digital transformation projects that optimise financial and operational processes. As a Trustee at Resonance, Aaron brings his expertise in technology, digital systems, and automation to support the station’s digital growth and sustainability. He is particularly focused on enhancing Resonance’s digital infrastructure, implementing low-cost CRM solutions, and improving audience engagement through technology. Appointed March 2025
Gemma Kirk
With over twenty years of experience across charity fundraising, the arts, education and private sector, Gemma's skills lie in relationship building, leadership, strategy and income generation across High Value Giving, Grants & Trusts, Corporate Partnerships and Special Events. Gemma is currently Development Director at inclusive arts and cultural centre, JW3, and previously spent seven years at inclusive theatre company Chickenshed as Head of Fundraising. One half of indie folk group 'Lost Chimes', Gemma is passionate about Resonance's mission to encourage and support a diverse range of artistic voices through radio. She is married to her bandmate Nicky and has two children. In 2009, Nicky became a programme-maker on the station in a series about architecture entitled 'Amenity Space.' Appointed January 2025
John Appleby
Now retired, John was the Chief Economist and Director of Research at the Nuffield Trust health think tank, where he is currently a Senior Associate. He was previously Chief Economist at the King’s Fund, and senior lecturer at Birmingham University and the University of East Anglia. He started his career as a health economist in the NHS. John is currently a visiting professor at City University and Imperial College London and a board member of the NHS Race and Health Observatory. Appointed September 2023
Jennifer Holroyd
Jennifer was an Intellectual Property Lawyer for 20 years and a Partner/Director at Pinsent Masons She currently helps run a London events website www.themenu.co.uk, is a keen speech radio and podcast listener, and having had over a decade of Trustee experience, is a Trustee at Advance Myanmar and Belong London. Appointed October 2019
