New Works for Radio
Today: The London Eardrops by Colin Black, a collection of works based on the specific location of London, where Australian sound artist Colin builds a multi-facetted aural geography in which human imprint is present. Constructed from audio recordings collected during his Visiting Research Fellowship with Goldsmiths, University of London and artist residency with Resonance FM, this collection explores notions of interiority through personal thoughts and the inner aspects of place that can be uncovered within exterior sonic environments. [Repeated from Thursday 6.30pm.] Stine Janvin Motland is an experimental vocalist and composer from Norway. Ahead of her upcoming shows in Romania (Rokolectiv festival, 21 April) and Latvia (a one-off by Skaņu Mežs festival, 24 May), she’s prepared a mixtape of music that she currently enjoys, demonstrating a wide array of musical influences from Eliane Radigue to Beatrice Dillon. Stavanger born, Berlin based vocalist Stine Janvin Motland works with experimental music, sound and audiovisual performance. Through a diversity of projects such as the live radio play In Labour (2014), the performative installation The Subjective Frequency Transducer (2015), field recording adaptations duo Native Instrument (2015) and alter ego Stine II, she explores and challenges the physical features of the voice, the acoustics of her external/internal surroundings and new performance strategies. Her interest in the ambiguous and unrecognizable qualities of the voice, pushes her constantly to search for new ways to expand her vocal repertoire. Her recent work significantly involves imitation and abstract storytelling through sound collages referring to a variety of genres and traditions of electronic music, sound poetry, folk music and languages of various peoples, birds and animals. Stine Janvin Motland is a participating artist of the SHAPE platform for innovative music and audiovisual art, co-funded by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union.
