Information for Resonance Supporters: Beacon CRM Security Incident

21.08.2026

We want to let you know about a data security incident affecting Beacon, the external system Resonance uses to manage donor information.

We know that our supporters trust us with their details, so this notice explains what happened, what information may have been involved and the steps we have taken.

What happened?

Beacon’s investigation found that an unauthorised third party made a copy of the database containing donor data, including attachments, and that the copy was likely downloaded in readable form.

Beacon is used by more than 1,000 charities and other organisations. This was an incident affecting Beacon’s system generally, and there is no indication that Resonance was specifically targeted.

What information was involved?

The donor information we hold in Beacon varies between individuals, but principally includes:

names and contact details;
communication preferences;
donation dates and amounts;
Gift Aid information;

We do not use Beacon to store financial information such as payment card or bank account details, nor do we store passwords, safeguarding, volunteering, or programme-related information. The information involved principally relates to donor activity.

Is there any evidence of misuse?

There is currently no evidence that our information has been published or misused.

Do I need to do anything?

No specific action is required, and you do not need to change any passwords because of this incident. As a sensible precaution, please remain alert to unexpected emails, calls or messages referring to Resonance, London Musicians’ Collective or previous donations. Do not provide passwords, security codes or payment information in response to an unexpected message.

What have we done?

We have followed Beacon’s security guidance, secured our account and connected services, reported the incident to the relevant regulators, assessed the potential risks and continued to monitor the investigation. If you have any questions please contact us at contact@resonancefm.com.
