An Introduction to Airwaves
May 1st, 2008 · No Comments
Specializing in post rock, updated krautrock, psychedelia and general weirdness there is no label quite like Stockholm’s Airwaves. Born from the frustrations of watching a series of great bands vanish into oblivion in the mid to late nineties, Airwaves has become a unique home for alternative musical talents. This show as our introduction to its genius residents; Chicken El Diablo, Tender Souveniers, Rökmorsa, Elias Krantz, Clark Nova, Mackaper, Currents, Fuglesang and Help Elp Elp Lp
Produced by Gavin Maycroft

Lilies, wood, iron, sugar
May 1st, 2008 · No Comments
It is May the 1st and on this very same day six years ago London’s airwaves started to frolic in peculiar ways. All manner of harmless noises and less identifiable sounds began to disturb the aether, at first many keen eared listeners assumed their aerial had taken a turn for the worse and then they realised that it wasn’t a commercial radio station malfunctioning but a grand experiment in the art of listening. Yes, on the 1st of May 2002 Resonance 104.4 FM made its debut transmission, so happy birthday to us and sincere thanks to the thousands of contributors, listeners and well wishers that have supported us donating invaluable ideas, skills, time, money and moral support in sometimes adverse circumstances. Many, many thanks. Happy May Day and here’s to six more years!

A Conversation with Francisco Goldman (Pt.1)
April 21st, 2008 · No Comments
A Conversation with Francisco Goldman (Pt.1) - 8pm Friday 25th April
During a recent visit to London for International Pen’s ‘Free the Word’ season, Guatemalan-American novelist Francisco Goldman talked to Tim Girven about his recent non-fiction work, The Art of Political Murder. An investigation into the assassination of Bishop Juan Gerardi in 1998, the book began life as an article undertaken for The New Yorker magazine. Finally published after eight years of first-person reporting, the book would subsequently take on a life of its own… with significant political ramifications for Guatemala.
With incidental music from Bloque, Malalma, Los de Abajo and Manu Negra; plus pieces by Colombian pianist and composer Laura Lambuley
The second part of this Clear Spot will be broadcast on Tuesday the 29th of April at 8pm.
