the speech core of Merzbau

May 15th, 2012 · No Comments

In this evening’s Clear Spot Jesse Ash and Cally Spooner explore Peter Bissegger and Harold Szeemann’s reconstruction of Kurt Schwitters’ Merzbau. In its present state of reconstruction, Merzbau was re-built by Peter Biesegger from three photographs, via the memory of Kurt Schwitters’ son, Ernst, and facilitated by curators at the De Sprengel museum, Hanover. This programme explores the role that multiple voices play in art production, looking at how discussion is used to produce, construct, present and document works of art. The programme includes contributions from Will Holder, Olivier Castel, and Gavin Butt. Tune in from 8:00pm.

Clear Spot – The late Frank Howling at 8pm

May 14th, 2012 · No Comments

Frank Howling is the subject of a radio feature tonight in the Clear Spot at 8pm. Who was Frank? An important person for Resonance104.4fm: a listener from the very beginning of our broadcasts, a man who lived a fascinating but “ordinary” life (a traveller, jazz buff, tool maker, smoker, struck blind mid-life) which producer Martin Williams presents in typically lyrical fashion. Sadly, Frank died late in 2011 after years of suffering from cancer and the news has only just reached us: hence this modest tribute in audio form.
