Featuring 17 working artists, the exhibition explores themes of identity and place, spiritual and material realities and the media&#8217;s influence on perceptions of the self and culture.</p>
<p>In this programme Ananda Pellerin interviews two of the featured artists, Abdulnasser Gharem and Reem Al-Faisal, who speak candidly about their art, their country and their extraordinary lives. Also, Ananda finds out about the exhibition&#8217;s genesis from its curator Stephen Stapleton and its wider context within Middle Eastern art from Venetia Porter, curator of the Islamic collections at the British Museum.</p>

In the course of her three albums for Rephlex, X-L and Warp, maverick North London writer-producer Leila Arab has redefined the possibilities of British electronic pop. Today she&#8217;ll be talking about her collaborations with the likes of Bjork, Terry Hall and Martina Topley-Bird, playing some of her favourite tunes (including an Aphex Twin number at the wrong speed), and letting us hear an exclusive 15 minute mixdown of surrealist soundbites.
