levels to help solve the interlocking problems of climate change, ‘peaking’ fossil fuel supplies, resource wars and overpopulation (phew!).
An emergency move out of oil into renewable energy would have huge benefits in terms of global security, economic stability, economic development and environmental policy. – Dan Plesch
As an Individual
Work out how to minimise your carbon footprint while maximising your quality of life!
Changing your lightbulbs will help and save you money but you need to look at the big picture… For example, if you are someone who takes lots of flights they could wipe out all your other carbon savings.

Campaign for a Strong National Framework
Despite its claim of international leadership on climate protection, the government hasn’t worked how out to turn things around and rapidly move away from our dependence on fossil fuels.
It is apparently in denial about the urgency of the problem and the speed with which we need to move. With its commitment to expanding aviation capacity, building more roads and reviving the UK’s coal industry it seems as if our solution as a nation is not just “business as usual” but “more business than usual”.
Carbon dioxide emissions have risen by 2.2% since Labour came to power in 1997. Read all about it
The only way to make sure the government reduces carbon dioxide emissions on a yearly basis is to make it legally binding.
A successful civil society campaign supported by over 50 organisations representing millions of people, has forced the government to introduce a Climate Change Bill into the House of Commons.
The current draft of the Bill needs strengthening if the UK is actually able to play its full and fair role in avoiding dangerous levels of climate change.
Ask your MP to support a strong Climate Change Bill
At the International Level
Learn what’s going on at the United Nations talks – the next annual talks are in Bali, 3-14 December.
It’s important that we get an adequate and fair international agreement that brings down the level of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere as quickly as possible.
