We were sad to learn that saxophonist Lol Coxhill died earlier this week and we present a tribute to him on the morning of Thursday 12 July from 6am till 9am, comprising recordings made at the 2003 London Musicians’ Collective Festival, held at The Place. Lol features memorably in a vast ensemble under the direction of Otomo Yoshihide and Keith Rowe, featuring (among others) Knut Aufermann, Lepke B., Tom Besley, Viv Corringham, Benedict Drew, Luke Garwood, Jem Finer, Max O’Brien, Alex Ressel, Mark Sanders, Tetine, Richard Thomas, Sarah Washington, Chris Weaver plus thirty-odd others including dancers, film makers, and performance artists, some of whose names we never did discover. So you hear Lol surrounded by friends and admirers, often drowned out, now and then carving out a space for himself, ever present on the very edge of the spotlight.
Three hours of lovely din. Enjoy. Lol RIP.
The late Lol Coxhill on 12 July from 6am
