This Friday, 14 November, 8pm on Resonance 104.4 FM, on-line at resonancefm.com
Edge of Arabia is the first comprehensive group exhibition of contemporary Saudi art to be shown in London. Featuring 17 working artists, the exhibition explores themes of identity and place, spiritual and material realities and the media’s influence on perceptions of the self and culture.
In this programme Ananda Pellerin interviews two of the featured artists, Abdulnasser Gharem and Reem Al-Faisal, who speak candidly about their art, their country and their extraordinary lives. Also, Ananda finds out about the exhibition’s genesis from its curator Stephen Stapleton and its wider context within Middle Eastern art from Venetia Porter, curator of the Islamic collections at the British Museum.
Tune in to Resonance 104.4FM this Friday for a personal insight into the stories behind these works of art from the East that are causing a stir internationally.
Producer: Michael Garrad
