On Sundays at 6.30pm (repeated Tuesdays at 11pm), The Clerkenwell Kid presents an eight part trip through the strange, mad, sad sounds and songs of the cold war period with a few excursions and diversions along the way. Together with some special guests and co-hosts and against a collage of archive material and rarely heard music we get a glimpse into a complex broadcast world of optimism, naivety, anxiety, public relations, patriotic songs, protest songs, anti-protest songs, public information, public disinformation and outright lies.
The series is broadcast in conjunction with the Cold War Modern exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum.
