Museum of Techno Radio (29.5.09 at 8pm in the Clear Spot) sends you on an audio tour of London’s Museum of Techno, the original and still pre-eminent museum of mankind’s shared techno heritage. The show will feature interviews, reviews, location recordings, self-indulgent sound design and discussion relating to any and all aspects of electronic music. We also aim to provide a glimpse into the fascinating mental lives of Museum Technicians, Mr Cornwell and Mr Braidy.
Opened in 1892 around Sir James Soame’s collection of booming kick drums, the Museum of Techno also houses an unparalleled range of steam-powered drum machines. It is very much a living research institution, recent work focusing on the application of algorithmic computer processing to the restoration of floorshaking sub-basslines in early musical recordings.
