'ere, what's going on? It's Oct. 15th. and yet another 'repeat' programme. Are the boys on holiday or what? Or hopefully cooking up great 'original' programmes to come. Trouble is the repeats I've heard the last two weeks are ones I heard the first time, and as I said above I missed a lot... mind hearing them a second time they impress even more!
P.S.
P.S. By the way Stefan don't let my opinion of
Frank Zappa put you off him (I know it won't).
My guitar teacher tells me he was a genius, not
only as a guitarist but as a songwriter too.
The same teacher's favourite musician is Steve
Vai who can been seen here 'dueling' with Zappa
- and I must admit Zappa sounds more soulful/melodic
in his playing; Vai more technically proficient, but cold, maybe.

Could anyone provide me with an email address for the show? I would like to request a playlist and it seems that sending an email is the only way.
Thanks!

It’s O.K. I’ve cracked it at last! I tuned my RealPlayer to 128k and am paying it on ‘low resonance’ and it’s coming through loud and continuous. So I can listen to my favorite programme ‘Where’s the skill in that’ whenever I’m home from work on time…

I dig what you guys are doing at ResonanceFM -
I Emailed a friend:
One other thing I’m really pleased about,
I’ve sorted out that ResonanceFM/Realplayer
problem I had - just needed switching to
128 frequency (as you probably guessed)
now if I click on their low stream I get
continuous play. I really dig that station
- I like experimental music - as you’ve
probably guessed - yesterday I was listening
to what sounded like kids banging tin cans
on rocks in a township, for about 20 mins.
(that was strangely soothing)
followed by 10 minutes of uninterrupted
gunfire from Afghanistan (really terrifying),
followed by the names of people ‘disappeared’
in Mexico read out in Spanish for five minutes.
Not the kind of stuff you get on the Beeb.
And I didn’t expect anything so shocking
from any radio station, even independent.

Having said that I’ll now be setting up a direct debit with my bank, and Nora’s a lovely assistant-manager, to donate to this great radio station.

And just to prove I'm not a total sycophant I know the W(AH)TSIT guys are Frank Zappa fans but I've just Emailed this to a friend:

Zappa? The blokes an asshole.

All he's doing here is playing scales.
I know 'cos I'm taking guitar lessons
and the teacher's trying to teach me
scales. G major, A pentatonic - all that
shit. You practice and play it fast
enough and it sounds impressive.
There's no heart in this music at all,
it's just artifice.
I loved Zappa (or rather the Mothers
of Invention) back in the days of
"We're only in it for the money" when
they were playing music which precursored
what the great group Why? are playing now.
But jazz Zappa? - he took the easy way out.
And to think this guy told the London
Symphony Orchestra they didn't know how
to play.

Al

(remind me not to post after I've had a
few drinks)
