David Lynch’s Lost Highway deals rather obliquely with identity crises, lust, murder, Hollywood purgatory, doppelgangers, pornography, free jazz, saxophones, videotapes and much else besides. Composer Olga Neuwirth and librettist (Austria’s finest) Elfriede Jelinek have adapted Lost Highway for the stage, producing a molten, kinetic, operatic spectacle. Lost Highway is directed by Diane Paulus and is a co-production between English National Opera and The Young Vic.
