The Royal College of Music’s biannual “Great Exhibitionists” concert series is a celebration of bold, unconventional approaches to music performance, composition and collaboration taking place all-day on 15 February 2013. Tonight postgraduate RCM composer Ryan Cockerham introduces the event, giving audiences insight into the fascinating world of contemporary performance art, music technology and the rapidly evolving world of multimedia art. I found the discussions about the dichotomy between composing and/or playing ‘traditional’ classical music and composing music with and through modern technology, really fascinating. I’m a visual artist (printmaker) and a lot of the debate resonated with me. A fascinating programme – great!
